#13. CFDA Awards

There is something about the CFDA Awards that seem effortless and a breeze; both attendees and fashion-wise. This year, CFDA named Marc Jacobs as the Womens Designer of the Year. Yay! I might now know him personally but I'm so glad that he won! For someone who designs three collections a season (LV, Marc Jacobs & Marc by Marc Jacobs), still looks radiant and is that good looking, sure deserves an award as big as that! Anyways, here are some pictures that caught my eye from that night. Enjoy.

I love that the night's fashion has a sense of care-free and simplicity, as if they're all just coming together for a party when really, all the top American designers, along with top models and celebrities, are all coming together under one roof. Love it!

#12. Summer Reads

What would summer be without lounging under the sun and having an easy read at your hand? Incomplete. After reading Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang, by Chelsea Handler, which I must say is a must-read, I have been inspired to create a list of books that I plan to read and finish by the end of the summer. I just started this list so I'm sure it will only continue to grow.

1. Eat, Pray, Love

2. Drink, Play, F@#k

3. Catcher in the Rye

4. The Twenties Girl

#11. Jeffrey Campbell

No words can express how much I want, correction, need these wedges by Jeffrey Campbell. This whole week that just passed, I have been on the hunt for shoes that would even come remotely close to that and to my luck, I have found zilch, squat, nothing. If only I had the money to actually just buy it online to begin with but then again, is there actually a student out there who can afford a $210 (US) pair of shoes? I highly doubt it.

#10. Wizards of Waverly Place

Ever since I moved out here to go to school, I have gotten too much of a dose of the Family Channel because of the two daughters of my family friend that I was forced to live with. They practically know every line in any given Hannah Montana episode. Anyways back to my point of this entry, I was stuck watching Wizards of Waverly Place today with the girls and Harper (Jenny Stone), one of the cspunky characters in the show who has always been known to make up her own outfits, had a dress made out of markers. Clearly Harper is way ahead of her generation and already knows what can be found as a treasure in today's fashion industry.

This dress totally reminds me of that specific dress that is made out of safety pins. Unfortunately, his name has been lost in my head and can't recall it!! Leave a comment and let me know if you know which dress I'm talking about and who it's by! Thanks.

Happy Readings,
Ariane Terado

#9. Cannes 2010

Kate Beckinsale has always been a favourite for me ever since I first watched her on Serendipity. She's always had that femininity and elegance and she's not like any of the celebrities these days who are always on the tabloids and having bad rep on them. So here she is in Cannes this last week in Balmain Fall 2010/2011 during the film presentation Biutiful. Don't those legs look stunning in that side slit?

#8. Some Like it Hot

Lately, I've been getting into old classic movies and I'm so glad I did because I find them so much better than today's movies. Strip down all the effects and the CGIs and you've got the classics from the 50's that are purely based on the story and not the stunts. If you're planning to get into them, I'd recommend Some Like it Hot with Marilyn Monroe and Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn. I think I have just found an addiction with these two icons. I love they're spunk and grace on set!

#7. Giorgio Armani

After Mr. Giorgio Armani dressed Lady Gaga for her special appearance on the Idol, he is now doing Alicia Keys' tour ensemble. Just by the sketches alone, they already look amazingg and it makes me want to go to her concert even more! She's got the voice and now the wardrobe to show it off!

#6.Barbie

During Australian Fashion Week, a new collection of Barbies debuted. It consists of 12 Barbies, all with different faces and all feature faces of supermodels and even some Australians. This one is Miranda Kerr's Barbie. What do you think of the resemblance and how much will these cost? Let's just hope that Heidi Pratt doesn't choose to do a face lift to look after these Barbies, she does look up to them after all.

#5. Givenchy

Givenchy Fall 2010 Ad Campaign
Can you spot the transgender? In the new ads of Givenchy, Ricardo Tisci made the decision to cast her used to be male personal assistant, Leo Cerezo, who is now known to be Lea. This may be one of the firsts and go Tisci for making this bold move that's got a lot of people talking!

#4. Coach

Coach Store, 370 Bleecker St., NYC

The first Coach store exclusively for the men had its first grand opening today on Bleecker St., NY. The store features 99 limited products especially made for the store. Also, for the first 200 customers, with a coupon, receive a free fragrance bottle. I think it's awesome that they're emphasizing on their men's line since they've always been pushing their women's line more! I'm sure there will be tons of hotties down there this weekend (bf if you're reading this, then jk!) if you're around that area, go check it out and let me know how it is!

#3. Go Nude!

Waking up at four today and not being able to go back to sleep left me with nobody to talk to, nor a functioning brain to continue with my project that I left unfinished last night. What's a girl got to do in the middle of the night when Facebook, Youtube and Twitter has failed her you might ask? Online shopping. Looking for new additions for the spring wardrobe, I became fond of the neutral footwear this season.
Aldo, $80
These pumps were love at first try on for me. I've actually been in the store to try them on and like any Aldo pumps, comfort was not expected but to my surprise they were not that bad at all. Pair this with a party dress at night and this simple chic pair of pumps will elongate your legs like no other.

Steve Madden, $100
Seen at runways like Louis Vuitton, clogs are making a come back this season and they're coming in strong. These would look great with a pair of bell bottom jeans and a white loose blouse or a maxi dress.

Aldo, $80
This blog entry won't be complete without a pair of oxfords/brogues in it. Unfortunately, this cute pair is only available in the US and I haven't been able to find ones similar to it that's available here in Canada. A pair of these would complete the look of any outfit with a touch of masculinity and class.

#2. Louise Brooks

Louise Brooks- the modern woman of the 1920's.
Before starting the Fashion Merch. Program, I didn't know much about the history and the influences of fashion and I am really enjoying my Fashion History class because even though I already knew that fashion always rotates and that the fashion of this decade won't be the last that we'll see of it, it's finally relieving to know what influences came from what decade and what may have happened that brought on a great influence to fashion during that time. So I leave you off with Louise Brooks who was a famous silent movie actress whose hair cut became a staple in the 20's, also known as the
LouLou Bob.

#1. the blogger

Let's keep this short and sweet. My name's Ariane and I live in Vancouver,BC where I will be completing my Fashion Merchandising Diploma. In two months I will be dreading moving back to my hometown, Calgary, AB, to get my degree in Marketing. I decided to start this blog so that fashion can take up more of my life and also give myself a chance to sit down, take in and write what's been happening in my life. So all I can say is, read all, skip some or just glance over it; it's all in the power of your index finger hovering over that mouse.

Happy readings!
